City Parks

Department Purpose:
The Parks Division of the Public Works Department maintains ten parks, four pathways, street trees, benches, and parking lots. In addition, this division maintains the landscaping around five government buildings, is responsible for herbicide applications around all City facilities and roadsides, and assists the general public with water conservation measures during drought periods.  The division provides maintenance labor for the Tree City U.S.A.

Park Hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Parks Reservation Information:  All park area and bocce court reservations are made through the Recreation Department.  Please contact Haidi Arias at (707) 963-5706 to make a park or bocce court reservation.  City Hall can also assist on park reservation (Areas 1-3 or Lyman Park)  City Hall Contact: Chrissy Cook.  

Please download the form below and submit it to the Recreation Department at the Carnegie Building on the corner of Oak Avenue and Adams Street.  Applications are also available at the Carnegie Building.

When you request a reservation online please allow 2-5 days for the Recreation Department to approve the reservation. Once we approve your request an invoice will be emailed to you to finalize payment. 

Located on Crane Ave. 500 ft south of the intersection of Crane and Grayson Avenues. The 12 acre park consist of 6 lighted tennis courts, 8 lighted bocce ball courts, 2 Little League baseball fields, 1 lighted volleyball court, horse shoe pits, children's play ground and individual and group picnic areas and two restrooms. Group picnic areas must be reserved through the Recreation Dept or City Hall. Crane Park is home of the St. Helena Farmers Market which is open from 7:30 to noon every Friday May through October.

St. Helena Skatepark was opened in October 2009. The 18,000 square foot park was designed and constructed by Grindline. The park is open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. till dusk. It is closed on rainy days. Helmets and pads are required and there is a $200 fine for skating without required equipment. Skate Park will be closed on July 3rd - 5th, 2016.

Located on Pope Street, the four acre park is named after General Jacob Meily who, in 1880, established his vineyards on the park site and winery in the adjacent barn across Sulphur Creek from the park. The park amenities include parking, restrooms, turf area, picnic tables, playground, and a paved walking trail along Sulphur Creek.

Located on the 1300 block of Main Street between Pine and Adams Streets, the one acre park consist of individual picnic tables, grassy areas, a children's play area and historic gazebo. The gazebo may be rented for weddings, birthday parties etc. Lyman Park is host to the summer band concerts on Thursday evenings during the months of July and August. This is a passive park and no active game playing is allowed. The park has one restroom.

Located on Mitchell Drive between Voorhees Circle and St. James Dr. The park is adjacent of Spring Creek pond and is about 1 acre. It consist of picnic tables and play equipment designed for pre school age children. The park is landscaped with ground covers and does not have any large grassy areas. No restrooms.

Located on 1591 Spring Street between St. James Dr. and North Crane Ave. The one acre park is predominantly grass with two picnic tables on the south side near the entrance from Voorhees Circle. Handicapped accessibility only from Voorhees Circle. No restrooms.

Located on Pope Street along the Napa River. This park is less than a quarter acre in size and is predominantly grass. Limited parking. No amenities.

A small, neighborhood pocket park, Peter Mennen Park is named after a local preservationist who funded the landscaping of the park. Landscape materials include nut and fruit trees that provide food for birds and squirrels as well as shrubs and ground covers that attract butterflies and bees.

Located on the corner of Church Street and Hunt Avenue this "pocket park" offers two picnic tables and some benches. It has one restroom.

Located just south of Pope Street Bridge along the Napa River. This park offers a newly constructed multi-use pathway, walking paths, dog park and picnic tables.
